マライタ州知事選が５月13日に行われ、スイダニさんが立候補を断念しただけでなく、スイダニ派から出馬したフィリップ・クワトオ議員が２１対１２で落選した。
知事になったエリヤ・アシラウア議員が今回落選した前知事マーティン・フィニのグループである。
スイダニ氏当選は当たり前、知事の座に返り咲く事も当たり前であった今回のマライタ州知事選のどんでん返しの理由は、昨年スイダニさんを知事の座から追い出したフィニ知事が積極的に中国との協力関係を進め、選挙直前には協定に署名し、既に多くの支援物資、インフラ開発を開始していたことにある。このブログに最後に在ソロモン諸島中国大使館のFBを貼っておく。
なぜ中国にできて西洋諸国にはこの支援ができなかったのか？今回のスイダニ氏日本招聘の際、ソロモン諸島の大使を経験した高濱氏から伺ったのは、マライタのインフラ開発はまだ早いという判断を大使レベルでしていたということだ。ソロモン諸島の、マライタの現状を知れば、ホニアラと同時進行でマライタの開発は重要だったはずだ。
The Malaita governorship election was held on 13 May, and not only did Mr Suidani give up his candidature, but also the MP Philip Kwatowo, who ran from the Suidani group, lost the election by 21 to 12.
The MP who became Governor, Elijah Asilaua, is from the group of former Governor Martin Fini, who was unsuccessful this time.
This is because Governor Fini, who ousted Suidani last year, has actively promoted cooperation with China, signed an agreement with China just before the election and has already initiated a lot of relief goods and infrastructure development.

Why was this kind of assistance available from China but not from Western countries?
When Mr Suidani was invited to Japan, Mr Takahama, the Japanese Ambassador to the Solomon Islands, told me that the decision to develop infrastructure in Malaita was made at the Ambassador's level, as he thought it was still too early to do so.
Knowing the current situation in the Solomon Islands and Malaita, it would have been important to develop Malaita at the same time as Honiara.

Malaita Provincial Assemly has this morning elected its new Premier, Hon Elijah Asilaua Member of Provincial Assembly for Ward 12
Asilaua beat his only rival Hon Phillip Kwato'o Member of Assembly for ward 29 by 21 to 12 votes.
The new premier was said to be the candidate of one of the camps which calls itself the Malaita Government for Redirection who lead by the new himself
Congratulations to the newly Elected premier for Malaita Province.
マライタ州議会は今朝、新首相にエリヤ・アシラウア州議会議員（第12区）を選出した。
アシラウア氏は、唯一のライバルであったフィリップ・クワトオ下院議員（29区）を21対12票で破った。
アシラウア新首相は、マライタ再方向性政府を名乗る陣営のひとつで、新知事自身が率いる陣営の候補者であったと言われている。

WARD 29, MALAITA PROVINCE - Hon Philip Kwato'o, Member of Assembly
for Ward 29,who also candidacy for the premiership, extends his heartfelt congratulations to Hon Elijah Asilaua for being elected as the new Premier of Malaita Province.
In a statement released today, Hon Kwato'o expressed his excitement and eagerness to work alongside Hon Asilaua in advancing the development goals and aspirations of the people of Malaita.
"I am thrilled to congratulate my fellow Hon colleague, Hon Elijah Asilaua, on his election as the Premier of Malaita Province. I look forward to collaborating with him to serve our people and ensure the progress and prosperity of our beloved province," said Hon Kwato'o.

首相選挙にも立候補した第29区のフィリップ・クワトオ下院議員は、マライタ州の新首相に選出されたエリヤ・アシラウア氏に心から祝意を表する。
